Natwest have just launched the public voting site for their Skills and Opportunities Fund, and we are delighted to say that we have been shortlisted! If successful, the money secured from winning the vote will provide the funding needed for our new ‘Finding the Change’ project. This project will enable us to work 1-2-1 with 70 of the most vulnerable people in Gateshead and Sunderland to increase their financial capability and support them out of financial crisis for good.

We know that there are more and more people in financial crisis who have nowhere to turn to. Universal Credit is now in place, impacting on the unemployed and 1.2 million people nationally in low income jobs. Zero Hours contracts are prevalent in the North East, and those in work are at risk of sanctions if they are not meeting expectations set by the DWP.

HOWEVER! One of our core values is having a deep sense of hope that things can change, whatever the current circumstances may say. Through our Finding the Change project we will seek to work with people who are severely marginalised and unable to access mainstream financial services. We know these groups suffer from extreme financial exclusion and are at risk of eviction, homelessness, and may be experiencing domestic abuse, mental health issues, unemployment, variable incomes and child poverty.

Our intervention will enhance the budgeting skills of every person and help them manage their money on a monthly basis. This will contribute to reducing stress and increase stability for them and their families, building their resilience and improving their quality of life.

PLEASE VOTE FOR US in the Natwest Skills and Opportunities Fund today.
