Support Worker, Oasis Aquila Foyer, south London

The Oasis Aquila Foyer provides supported accommodation for young people experiencing homelessness between the ages of 16-25. As an accredited Foyer, the project prioritises supporting young people as they transition, through the development of Life and Employability Skills, as well as successful move on into increased independence. In 2013 the Foyer became part of the Croydon Youth Homelessness Pathway; OAH works in partnership with CAYSH to jointly implement a pathway model of support from assessment through to support and independence for young people in Croydon. OAH use a Hub and Dispersed Foyer model to provide support to 47 young people across Stage 2 of the pathway.

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of our Service Users supporting young people  and preparing them for increased independence? Do you have experience of working in supported housing projects with young people and/or extensive experience of supporting vulnerable and/or challenging young people?

To join us you will need to demonstrate a holistic approach in relating to young people and an understanding of the pressures facing young people, particularly around homelessness.  You will have the ability to engage, relate and motivate young people and use your initiative and work flexibly in a demanding environment.

Bank Staff – Housing Support Worker, south London

Do you have experience of working with vulnerable young people in a paid or unpaid capacity? Are you aware of the pressures facing young people, particularly homelessness? Are you available for shifts on an ‘as and when needed’ basis?

We are seeking to recruit a number of Housing Support Workers to join our pool of bank staff working on an ‘as and when needed’ basis at our supported accommodation projects in south London. The role involves assisting the Project Team Leader with all aspects of running the project providing the holistic support and training to assist in preparing young people for independent living. This is your chance to help shape and support the strategic direction of an exceptionally dedicated team of professionals who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of those whom they serve.  Oasis Aquila Housing (OAH) responds to homelessness and disadvantage providing housing, support and other specialised services. For over 30 years the Oasis movement has been working across England and the world to transform communities so that everyone is included, belongs, and has what they need to fulfil their God-given potential.

The support OAH provides aims to develop life skills that will enable the young people we house to live successful, independent lives. Our projects operate in Gateshead and London, with plans for the expansion of our work across England. Board meetings are normally held at our Central Office in Gateshead, which is easily accessible from central Newcastle.

We are looking to recruit 2-3 Trustees to our small but influential & dynamic Board. Candidates should be passionate about our story, social housing and eradicating homelessness. We are particularly interested in candidates who may have expertise in one or more of the following fields:
