The Naomi Flats provide temporary accommodation for up to 2 years for 18-30 year old women. These provide an opportunity for semi-independent living for young women who have experienced homelessness or were at risk of homelessness. We currently have two 2-bed shared flats a short walk from Gateshead centre. These flats provide a great opportunity for women to get a taste of independent living, knowing there is always support there if needed. The flats partly provide a move-on option for residents of the Naomi Project, but are also available for direct referral.
Support is available 24-7 by telephone and support sessions are offered during the week. Support is focused on helping our residents to gain stability and independence, so that moving on to long-term accommodation can become a reality. Additional support is offered around accessing help for issues such as emotional and mental health, finance and budgeting, social services involvement.
Referrals to the Naomi flats are also made through Gateshead Housing Options portal. If you know a young person who needs help, anyone can make a referral to the Portal. The Portal Referral form can be accessed by contacting the Housing Options team (0191 433 3174) and should be marked for Naomi Project.
