James’ story, Fair Chance Project

James was referred to the Fair Chance Project at the beginning of the year, having been evicted from supported accommodation for drug use. James also had issues around his mental health, as well as offending.

Through the Fair Chance Project, we were able to move James into temporary accommodation, which gave him somewhere to live whilst we supported him to work through the other difficulties he was facing. 6 months on, James is now living in his own private rented accommodation, he is receiving support with his mental health, he is no longer using drugs and is no longer involved in criminal activity. James is keen to begin making meaningful use of his time and we are exploring volunteering, training and employment opportunities together – in the future James would like to support others in the same way in which he has himself been supported.
